70/10 – Sheer and light weight fabrics
80/12 – Light-medium weight fabrics
90/14 – Medium-heavy weight fabrics
100-140 / 16-22 – Heavy weight fabrics
A general purpose needle that can be used on woven or knit fabrics.
Sometimes called Microtex, these have a very sharp point for woven and delicate fabrics.
Designed to be used on knit fabrics. The rounded tip slips between the threads rather than cutting through them.
Slightly less rounded tip than a ball point and a deeper scarf to minimise skipped stitches on very stretchy fabrics.
A deep scarf and sharp point allows for successful sewing of denim, upholstery and other thick fabrics.
A wedged knife point penetrates natural leather (and other heavy non-woven fabrics) to allow the thread to pass through.
Has a thin tapered point for sewing through multiple layers without damaging the fabric.
Designed for use with embroidery threads, has a larger eye and a special scarf that protects the thread from damage.
Designed for use with metallic embroidery threads, has a large elongated eye and a deep scarf which reduces shredding of the delicate thread.
Have a special teflon coating which reduces the friction against the fabric.
Two needles attached to one shaft which allows the sewing of two parallel lines simultaneously. Thread your machine with two top threads (the single bobbin thread will zigzag underneath between the two lines of straight stitching). Available in different widths (the distance between the two needles).
